Suprisingly enough, this is a very enjoyable fantasy action adventure. I think kids will like the larger-than-life characters and 'terible' monsters (there's nothing scary here though really). For the Seventies, there's some pretty good 'Stop-Animation' (I think they call it) of monsters. It runs on a very basic and familiar storyline: Some terrible calamity has occured and it can only be put right by the hero (and his companions) setting out on a dangerous quest, overcoming various fantastic creatures and travelling to amazing locations. Think Lord of the Rings; and really just about every fairytale you've ever seen or heard. No stunning surprises or twists, just over-the-tope heroes and pantomime type villainy. TRIVIA 1: this stars the daughter of Tyrone Power and the son of John Wayne (neither of whom I've ever seen in anything else!). TRIVIA 2: Kurt Christian plays a companion in this and also another entirely unrelated seventies Sinbad movie.Read full review
A brilliant sea travelling adventure following sinbad in a desperate quest to save a prince fro an evil sorceress and here minions. the film also brings together alot of mythical creatures and makes for an amazing adventure. among the creatures that are encountered are a golden minotor, a giant walruss and a saber tooth tiger!! fantastic entertainment and well worth watching!
this is a real classic and sometimes hard to find so i saw it and bought with no hesitation, i find that not many people watch these kind of films but i love them and they make great family entertainment for everyone
This is one of my favourite stories, and it was a pleasure to be able to find it in pristine condition. I like the character of Melanthus, and have been a fan of Patrick Troughton, who played him, since early Dr.Who days! Ray Harryhausen's special effects dont really date the film, as they are imaginative, but I would have brought this film even if they had, it is just a part of my memories of the seventies. I am a little cautious of 'magical' films, for religious reasons, especially as there is so much around these days, but I felt I wanted to add this to the collection.
my son loves all these kind of movies so he was really pleased with this film he has wacthed it loads of times so well worth the money.
