Starkey provides us with a detailed account of the ladies who influenced more than just a king. This is a fascinating insight into just how much English religion and politics were affected by Henry's choice of wives, especially at a time when women were usually viewed as little more than child bearers and dowry bearers. There are several pieces of information included which suggest that previous views of some of the wives may not have been wholly correct, too. It's a huge book, but well worth the read if you have an interest in the Tudors.
