Great bonus tracks!
The bonus disc with the making of makes no sense, but the extra tracks on the main cd do great, like Till we die for instance. I expected at least a video clip on that extra.

Slipknot's new melodic sound while staying heavy is a winner for me!!
I've always wanted to buy this as I've got two of their other CD's that I really loved. I also really enjoyed their singles/videos that came out of this album and wanted to hear the rest. This is definately a turning point for Slipknot (whether you consider it good or bad) and their sound has changed a fair bit. They've 'matured' and have gone slightly more softer and more melodic. Personally my fravorite Slipknot songs have always been the ones with just as much as singing as there is screaming- because I really really love Corey Taylor's singing voice. I love his screaming voice just as much, but in my personal opinion his screaming and singing sound very powerful together and compliment the other perfectly. As there is definately more singing and really nice melodic guitar tunes, as well as quite a bit of the old 'crunch' and heaviness of the older Slipknot it's the best of both worlds for me. I welcome this change with open arms, but for those who prefer Slipknot's earlier and heavier stuff will probably not enjoy this CD as much as I did. Songs like 'Vendetta', 'Gemetria (The killing name)' and 'Butcher's Hook' is more reminescant of their previous albums, which will appeal more to fans of the older Slipknot. But overall this album has a whole new feel and sound. Allot of it I'm guessing is influenced by when Corey Taylor and Jim Root did their music with Stone Sour. A few people have argued that 'Snuff' should have been a Stone Sour song instead, but I love it either way. Basically if you loved 'Dead Memories' and 'Snuff', you'll really like this CD... But if you're after another 'Eyeless' or 'Spit it out' then this might not be to your tastes. I can't think of much that I don't like about this album. I consider myself to have broad musical tastes so I find it hard to nit pick at things. Sometimes I want this album to be allot heavier and I do miss some of the old fast, brutal, heavy as hell guitar noise of the previous albums. But if I'm in that kind of mood I'll just listen to Iowa, then listen to this one another day. I'm not saying the muscianship is any less than before, they're fantastic musicians and songwriters. It's apparant in this album as in any other, they've just taken a different direction- that's all. I think that's all it boils down to really. If you're a person who likes very heavy music, you might not enjoy this and consider this to be the downfall of Slipknot. If you like the newer and softer sound, you could call this their musical evolution and rebirth. Read full review

All Hope Is Gone Digipak (Special Edition)
This special edition is fantastic! First of all, the presentation of the CD and DVD is spectacular, set in a glossy full colour three-way foldout pack, with a large art + lyrics booklet in the middle. The CD contains the whole album, plus three bonus tracks - 'Child Of Burning Time', 'Til We Die' and 'Vermillion Pt.2 (Bloodstone mix)'. The DVD is the 'Nine: The Making Of All Hope is Gone' and contains an hour of behind the scenes footage, music video clips and general assorted clips of Slipknot. The art booklet is, in my opinion, the central part of the digipak. It contains many glossy and breathtaking photos of each band member, along with hand written lyrics and photoshoot pictures which just look stunning. Overall, a brilliant special collectors item for a fantastic album!

Slipknot - All Hope is Gone
Another amazing release from Iowa based metallers slipknot. In this release we see them take a step away from their usually screamy vocals and move towards something slighty more refined and better played. Corey Tailor seems to have discovered that he can sing with slipknot as well as stonesour and not just shout his way through the tracks as we have become acustomed to, here we see his vocals take a more powerful and edgy turn, a turn for the better. Its also highly evident that the bands talent as musicians ghas also took a massive leap forward. The most stand out track on this album is perhaps 'Vendetta' however 'Snuff' is one to look out for, it takes a massive step away from your traditional slipknot style and has a more sombre relaxing feel to it, as some brilliand lyrics aswell. On the bonus edition of the album there are three bonus tracks one of which is a remix of Vermilliomn Pt2 Which is incredible as is the bonus DVD that comes ithin the package Read full review
