Just bought this superb a900 (6,700 shutter count) and Sony grip on eBay for a little under £800. Very impressed with the feel and the build quality. I've taken around 80 shots so far on full auto and very pleased with the results. The 9 point AF system is more than adequate and works surprisingly with my 20 year old 300mm lens. The same goes for the 'steady shot system' which has allowed me to hand hold at 300mm and get consistently sharp results. With the grip attached the camera is quite a weight but well balanced. I've been a Minolta user since 1987 when I bought the 7000. Over the years I progressed owning all the 7 & 8 series cameras. I still have a 700i and 800i bodies. I also own Sony's a77, a77ii, and a58 cameras with 14 lenses, and 2 APO teleconverters. Myfavourite lenses being Minolta 300mm f4 and 50mm 1.4.Read full review

First off it has no video function no bad thing because it packs a full photo function to satisfy the most demanding situation the best camera for Minolta , Minolta Konica A Mount, 35mm film lenses and Sony A Mount lenses. Some of the old G lenses still hold their own against the current lenses at a fraction of the price

Professional Full Frame DSLR, solidly built and weatherproof. Stylish, first ever camera to have internal image stabilisation. 100% viewfinder and 5fps. Coupled with Sony Zeiss T* Pro lenses it gives superb detail and quality.

This is probably the best DSLR that Sony have made, as I would not like the delay that is needed to start up the A99 SLT . The resolution is great, though I have had to ditch one of my favourite lenses and buy other Minolta AF lenses that perform better on Fullframe. I am told that the noise at high ISO levels is not good, but that bothers me little as I tend to stick with lower ISO levels - and if necessary depend on a tripod. The prices have now tumbled since the introduction of the A99 (unsurprisingly) so this makes this purchase good value. The only possible problem is that you may need (as I have found) a service to correct any failings left by the previous owner - but again the Sony Service Centre is there to help.
I have used a pair of these for the last 5 years as a professional wedding photographer they are awesome cameras and still are today (Dec 2017) I am now selling both for A99ii the only reason being that I have started doing video clips as well and by going A99ii I do t have to carry three cameras around with me. Great cameras - very well recommended
