I used to think that Sony and Apple were all talk with their premium pricing but unlike Apple, with Sony you really DO get what you pay for. Take the fact, for example, that in all the Cex branches I have been in, I've not seen one SINGLE Sony tablet on offer. Not even the first generation tablets. Seen plenty of iPads. So either that tells you Cex don't want them (not plausible) or no one who owns one needs to sell theirs on. The latter is easy to believe once you try one. The Z3 is RAPID, and unlike the much later released Asus tablet (the Z580C), which I had to wait nearly 30 seconds after it booted up for it to connect to WiFi, the Sony tablet is connected INSTANTLY the second it's finished booting (which is a matter of a few short seconds). It contains the Snapdragon 810 CPU - the very same one that was in their Z3 phone of the same year, and it really is plenty to power things along. The tablet is astonishingly light. One online review pointed out that "this is because the back is made of plastic". Really, is your life that empty that you're going to sit there and whine that your tablet is not made out of a single laser cut block of aluminium? I thought not. Apple do that - and charge you utterly silly money for doing so. Did I mention it has the flexibility of an SD card slot. Sorry if you own an iPad - Apple don't DO flexibility. 16Gb is the internal memory and although I've now found that is simply not enough on my phone, I've so far not had any such issue with my tablet - because I use it in a very different way. The sound is also pure quality - you can even feel the thing vibrate in your hand at times - the sound I could actually describe as "sonic" - it really is that good. The display is rich in colours and is 1920x1200. Is it an AMOLED display? Nope. Does it make the slightest bit of difference whatsoever that it isn't AMOLED? Nope. With what Sony know about TV's you can be assured they've used the same skills just in smaller size. The colours are rich and vibrant - though of course you can always adjust them if you do find them a bit TOO vibrant. The viewing angles are solid - you will complaining as much about it not being AMOLED than you will be about it not being made out of one aluminium block. Sorry Apple Marketing Dept.... Battery life is also solid at 4500 - strangely far higher than they put in any of their phones, despite the fact, I would suggest, a phone does need a larger battery as you would use it far more than a tablet. So as you can imagine it does last - depending of course, as ever, on how you use the tablet - for example watch a few films and it isn't going to trouble it, but play a few graphically intensive games for a few hours solid and it's going to drain a good bit faster. This, however, is standard across the board with such devices. Finally it's waterproof - and as such you don't really need to fret too much if you've just rinsed your hands off and want to jump straight back to using it. You could use it in the rain too - although quite why you'd want to I'm unsure. I for one have never once so far witnessed anyone, anywhere, using their tablet in the rain. But hey - options. So all in all yes, you will pay more, but in this instance it is absolutely 100% worth it, and I would EASILY recommend this tablet over even the current crop of mediocre fayre in 2017. Believe it or not (as Ripley once said). Try this tablet and you WILL believe it.Read full review

Device is good value for money subject to how and where you buy it from. Cant say much about battery life as it claims to be 13 hrs. I had to recharge it after watching 2-3 movies as it went down form 100% - 40 %charge.

This tablet is superb. I wanted a small portable tablet & this one is ideal. General build quality is top notch. I have Xperia phone so setup was very simple. Screen quality is vibrant. Processor speed excellent.

I brought this tablet to replace my awesome Nexus 7 (2013) and was worried as I was going up in size. I was also worried about the screen as the Pixel density is considerably less than the Nexus. I needn't have worried the footprint of the Xperia tablet is only marginally bigger than the Nexus so it's ultra portable. The imaging software that the Xperia tablet is using makes the screen better for watching films and reading which surprised me. The bezels are really thin on the side (marginally too thin I'd say as my palm sometimes touches the screen) but that's how it stays portable and gives you the extra screen real estate. Speaker quality is great, it's really thin and light and ticks all my boxes. Well worth the cash for such high build quality and as an Xperia phone owner I now it'll last a while.Read full review

If you can find one, and are in the market for a good quality mid size tablet without a stupidly high price, I would recommend this. It's also waterproof if you are using it outdoors...
