I bought this to replace a 5.1 sound system that I've had for many years. On the pro side, it is tidy, looks great, and the sound is pretty good. On the negatives, there isn't nearly as much adjustment to the sound as what I'd have expected, you can set some profiles, you can set individual speaker volumes, but I'd have liked to see some more detailed custom settings. The biggest day-to-day annoyance is the fan, it comes on and off depending on how much processing it is doing, and it can be quite annoying. It is not too bad for me, as I already have another quite noisy fan running, but if you don't have any other fan running, this could be really annoying, as you hear it go off when the sound goes quiet, Having said all that, I'm pleased with it overall, I love the fact that the TV remote controls the volume, the sound seems pretty good whether the source is 2 channel TV or dolby digital, and ! won't be going back to my superb old system.Read full review

First of all is wired. 2. Real rms is maybe 300 3. No DTS 4. Sound quality is average 5. Bass is really poor 6. Surround sound almost missing. I am thinking to return it. I had Logitech 2.1 for 25£ and the sound is more powerful and bass more deep than this Sony for 179£. Definitely not recommend it.

I bought these as I was fed up with dialogue being drowned out on the built in speakers of my LG TV. They do a reasonable job for the money. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is that there is only 1 HDMI input, which you need for the TV and no outputs. There is however an optical input so it is possible to have another device connected. If you have multiple devices I would save some extra cash and buy a proper seperates system with multiple inputs and an output such as an Onkyo etc. On the plus side the sound is pretty good even at low volume as you would expect from Sony and the sound bar is neat looking. It also has blutooth so you can connect your phone or mp3 player etc and a usb port. On the whole it is good value. Just be aware of it's limitations.

I purchased this for use with my xbox and when I first plugged it in it didn't sound as good as I expected, after a quick Google search I found out it was the Xbox settings that needed changing to make use of the optical cable and decode Dolby digital. After that it sounded great and it really adds to the gaming experience, plus Netflix sounds fantastic. This is a great sound bar for the money and worth a purchase in my humble opinion.
