Old is bolder
Great little device. I already have one but lost the charger so bought this one to get replacement. It's a great piece of kit with loads of storage for your music easy to navigate and find what you want to listen too. Unfortunately the technology is old so it's very difficult to find a programme to load new music onto device. It used to be simple drag and drop. Sony likes the money I guess and have made it difficult and outdated. You can get around it though so don't be put of. Walkman is as good a sound quality as you will find and they are robust with good battery life. Difficult to see the menu on the sun though but just go for shuffle!

These players are superb and far better than any iPod, however they are now getting old and you need to use the correct software for them to work properly. You need Sony SonicStage 4.3 for it to perform at its best with any Windows system up to Win 7. You will need to find another software program if you have Win 8 onwards. So don't bother with the review from cfc_dude, he hasn't a clue! If you want top quality sound, these players are hard to beat.

Do not purchase one of these! The software is now defunked and no longer exists. If you already have connect player installed on your p.c, it is probably ok. after days of trying, I could not get the software to work at all.
Great MP3 player
I love this - in fact I have more than one as I use one for audio books and another for the more usual music. Using Sony's attrac3 format to store music on it I have managed to cram over 19,000 songs on mine. I would advise users to store their songs on the PC in MP3/WMA format as those are much more widely used formats and convert to to attrac3 only when loading them onto the device. This is done using the SonicStage software downloadable from the Sony site. This software is the only downside to these players. You can only load and play music through this program which is too clever for the job and can be a pain.
