in general lesbian TV or Film is incredibly poor, tacky and generally cringe worthy of plot, characters or depth. lets face it. Most of it is awful, Sugar Rush is a cleverly written comedy with a host of likable characters that keep the series going. It is alone in its class. The only thing to let it down is the second series. which in itself is amazing, but not as good as the first. The series simply focuses on two teenage girls, one who is gay, recently moved to brighton and in a new school meets the other, who is a trouble maker and becomes besotted . The rest follows the family which on its own would hold up as one of the best sit-coms ever written surrounding a dysfunctional family. expect no "issues", "sensitivity" and such rubbish keywords that instill the same loathing and off putting nausea in a film such as using the term "feminist eco worrier" to put of a mail audience and such that spoil drama, it is good fun. There are of course many cleverly put "issues" of being a young lesbian in the comedy that are more true then a serious documentary but are handled well, as actually are there concerning the other characters such as the teenage brother, the son of a gay couple, the divorced parents, the older predatory lesbian etc etc. (not to give the WHOLE PLOT AWAY)Read full review
