Album from my childhood, that I'd forgotten about. Glad it somehow came back. Brings back lots of silly memories.
I had this album previously but it got very scratched so looking to replace it. Need to see whether this album stands the test of time however Terrorvision were a very under-rated band, especially their early work. At a time it was all Blur vs oasis unfortunately this band was left lurking in the shadows. Nothing about the band is outstanding, everything they do is kept simple however it works and what we haveis a style of music is more rock than britpop with catchy melodies, funky guitar and bass riffs and some amusing lyrics (dog chewed the handle, hide the dead girl and Mugwump) and an interesting take on life (perserverance and junior) earned themselves a cult following. This album is probably them at their best (it's arguable How to make friends and influence people is their best) with smash hits such as Perserverance, celebrity hit list, enteralterego and superchronic before they unfairly got typecast with "one hit wonder" Tequila. Its sad they have now split however this album is well worth a listen especially as it can be picked up so cheaply on ebay.Read full review
The legends that are Terrorvision were faced with a huge dilemma - how could they follow up one of the best and hardest rocking albums of the 90's, "How to Make Friends and Influence People"? What a task... How could they better that..? The answer - Regular Urban Survivors! In short this album is a beauty, it overspills with guitar greats such as 'Hide the Dead Girl', 'If I Was You' and who could forget the chart topping 'Perseverance'! The album mixes the Terrorvision we all know and love - great head banging, jumping up and down rock with a more mature, refined sound that they were always capable of. Other album highlights are 'Bad Actress', 'Celebrity Hit List' and the raw album opener 'Enteralterego'. Overall this album is THE highlight of the boys from Bradfords' career (to date... heres hoping...). From the first track to the last - the album belts out quality rock with a wicked sense of humour, one to listen to over and over AND over again! 5*Read full review
The singles taken from this album are blinders, however this album does appear suffer from a few fillers (but they may be growers). There is a definite progression from "How to make Friends and Influence People", but it doesn't quite hit the mark for me - a much better example of what Terrorvision were pushing for can be heard on their next album "Shaving Peaches" (which is highly underated).
