If you can remember The Fivepenny Piece TV appearances and stage concerts in the 1970s, and bought their first 8 track cartridge cassettes and compact discs, this later CD includes many songs previously unissued on CD. If you don't remember The Fivepenny Piece, perhaps it is not too late to discover their unique brand of Lancashire Folk Music.

Great folk songs from Lancashire
I was introduced to this band's music many years ago and love the songs. Some are amusing others haunting; all quite different. It takes one back to earlier times in Lancashire which even a Yorkshire lass appreciates. Great folk music.
I loved Fivepenny Piece 40 years ago, and still do, so this was a must have
I was a fan of the Fivepenny Piece in the 70's, and saw them live on stage at the Alhambra in Bradford. As all the recordings I have of them are on LP, I was delighted to see this CD for sale, and it didn't disappoint. It's full of the stuff I used to scour the record shops for all those years ago, so I hope more CD's are released,- I'll buy every one! Love 'em.
The Fivepenny Piece-The Collection
After having several LPs on cassette, it was hard finding one on CD. I have always liked there music since being on Opportunity Knocks. This LP gives you a good varity of there music and is a pleasure to listen to. Lets hope they release more on CD!.
A Refreshing Change
This is an excellent cd and easy listening at it's best. I have grown up in Lancashire all my life and I spent thirty years working in a weaving shed. Not only is the music pleasent but the words also mean so much. The opening line to one of the songs "OLD TOM THE WEAVER DIED TODAY WHO WILL TEND HIS LOOM" says it all when you see the decline of the textile industry in England today. On a happier note no matter what life has in store you can always count on us northern folk making the best of it as you can gather from the song "SPANISH HOLIDAY". In today's world of HIP HOP, INDIE, RAP, and other music of the moment The Collection by The Five Penny Piece is what one might call a "refreshing change" and a reminder that you can get a message across simply by just hitting the right chords.
