The Four Feathers.
I liked the film personaly but it would not appeal to everyone. I bought it becaues Robert Powell is in it and I think he is wonderful so I would have bought it no matter what.
The Four Feathers-(1978) DVD,2004
Real'Boys Own''stiff upper-lip heroics'adventure, with a top cast of British thesps and striking on location cinematography,in this made for television adaptation of EAW Mason's Classic tale of courage, heroism and redemption, set against the background of the British campaign in the Sudan,of the 1800's. Simon Ward and Robert Powell take the lead roles with the lovely Jane Seymour as the bride to be of the hero,Harry Faversham(Beau Bridges). It is a pity that this particular adaptation never made it onto the big screen as it would find an audience,I'm sure. I have a fondness, particularly of films using Victorian themes,as source material or one's that portray a feeling of our country's rich heritage and history and this film falls exactly into this catagory. My only criticism,is,somewhere in it's transfer onto DVD,the soundtrack has been somewhat neglected and should have been a alot clearer and it's lacking any extras, such as a trailer,or star profiles, director's commentaries, etc. Despite these points,it's still well worth checking out, especially if you enjoy period films,-like the'Merchant Ivory'team efforts, though it isn't anywhere near up to their masterly craftsmanship.Read full review

The Four Feathers
I love this movie as it has all the elements I like in a story. It has love and adventure and a great story line about a boy over coming his fears to become a man, not just in his own eyes but those of his father, friends and his love. This is a movie I had always wanted to get a copy off and I had never seen it in the shops before, so as soon as I saw it on Ebay I had to bid for it. I have seen other versions of The Four Feathers and enjoyed them, but this version with Robert Power and Jane Seymour is by far the best.
