A History of Violence Review
One of the greatest films i have ever seen. I was kept constantly tense with a knot in my stomach for the whole film, I thought something was about to happen at every second. The cast was perfect - the definition of brilliant acting, the score was infrequent and subtle but extremely influential on the audience, the cinematography was astounding with some ingenious POVs and finally, the plotline was utterly amazing. For once I didn't guess the ending - the mark of a true thriller. I bought it due to an excellent review from a fellow film geek friend and I was right to trust his opinion! How could you sell this film?? It's epic!!! (but thankyou for selling it)
THE HISTORY OF VIOLENCE DVD
I found this film very enjoyable from start to finish, it's well acted with characters that you feel a real affinity for. The best part for me was the realism of the violence which is down to a combination of excellent direction and exceptional special affects/make up e.t.c. The violence however is not gratuitous and is necessary to the story. I would highly recommend this film.
What a wierd and Harrowing film!
I really enjoyed this film, it was a little harrowing to watch and horrific in places, but thats no different from Cronenbergs usual style. Except that his is its very slick and nicely acted, there's not a rubber monster in sight. I really liked it and I love the new teaming of Viggo Mortensen and Cronenberg they work really well together especially when creating a mysterious character. He seems like he's transparent, but he has layers and layers of deciept, amazing. I loved it.
A History of Violence on DVD
A fantastic film from start to finish. Director David Cronenburg and actor Viggo Mortenson form a brilliant partnership and create a well written, superbly acted and exceptionally directed film. DVD comes with a host of extras to entertain and inform. Highly recommend this film to Cronenburg and Mortenson fans and those unfamiliar with their work, I was gripped throughout.
A History of Violence DVD.
David Cronenberg is one the America's most daring, and underated Directors. His other films such as "Rabid","Shivers","Scanners",and "Crash" are all extremely watchable, and individual in their own way. This Film is no exception and Viggo Mortensen in the lead role is superb playing a man who desperately wants to excape his violent past by moving to a new town, and changing his name, and starting a family. However, the Mafia doesn't forget and seek him out,and there follows inner turmoil as he is slowly, but surely forced to revert to his old ways. In my view a film well worth watching and if you haven;t seen a David Cronenberg film before this may well result in you searching out some of the titles i have previously mentioned.
