I bought the mummy dvd as a present for my niece, she was really pleased with it and said she could watch it over and over again.
Everyone was flocking to see this film in drones when I had a look at this film on its cinema release. Maybe they’d caught an eye of the exciting trailer prior to its release! To be honest I thought the trailer to this feature presentation was more exciting than the movie itself! The amazing special effects are overdone and the feature is awash with computer generated scenes that are pretty horrific in places, but with not enough ambience to give you bad dreams. If you're a twelve year old kid you’ll love all this (it's a big wow), but as an adult unless you are prepared to 'take your brain out' for a few hours and put up with the corny childish dialogue and Egyptian chirographic script you should not be fooled into any reason to watch this one other than to see the special effects. It's a bit of an Egyptian Indiana Jones come Star Wars, 'good vs. evil' flick with a dose of zombie flesh eaters, thrown in with real good computer graphics! There are some British location scenes in London that obviously try to bring it all home, but they just don’t make it any less American, I’m afraid. Corpses, mummies, and the quest for immortality! Whatever happened to Sinbad? The leading female roles add to the much needed glamour though, making even the fight sequences look somewhat appealing. Go on, see it on your own, kids!Read full review
fantastic movie , action packed from start to finish. definately a must have in anybodys collection. the special effects are absolutely amazing,a great follow up to the first film.
Many sequels never quite seem to match up to the original film, or fall short somehow. However, The Mummy Returns definitely lives up to the legacy of The Mummy, providing the same wonderful blend of shocks, laughs and adventure that we all enjoyed so much in the first film. Imhotep makes an appearance again (couldn't leave him out, that would be criminal!), as do pretty much all the characters from the first film - Rick, Eve, Jonathan, etc. - with just as many memorable moments and quotes. In The Mummy Returns, Rick and Eve are now married, with a son, Alex. However, just as everything seems to be peaceful, the body of Imhotep is shipped to the British museum, and he is resurrected by a cult of followers, who intend for him to defeat the Scorpion King, who has reawoken, and take command of his armies to destroy the world. As Alex is kidnapped by Imhotep and his followers, Rock, Eve and Jonathan battle their way all the way to Egypt again in their quest to not only save the world, but also their son.... I adored this film from the first time I watched it, and it certainly lived up to my expectations based on the first film. I would highly recommend this! 5/5Read full review
