I particularly wanted this album as it is know...n to reflect Iggy at his most raw, angry and twisted. It also shows that The Stooges as the musical talent they truely were and that they were way ahead of their time. The album is a must-have for all Stooges fans and is undoubtedly one of the most important and influential punk albums of all time. As a re-mastered album, the sound is very good and should be played at full volume!!
If you're considering buying this CD, consider n...o more: buy it! This is the third Stooges LP and is an absolute classic. When it was originally released, the Bowie production was a bit tinny and muffled, but now it's been remastered and, according to Iggy Pop, this is how it was meant to sound before the Laughing Gnome messed it up. And that sound? powerful rock and roll, oft imitated, but never bettered. It's wild and intense at the same time with a sleazy aftertaste. It sold about 45 copies or something on its release, but is one of those records that has influenced thousands. Buy it and see why, your collection needs it.
Iconic work from Iggy & the Stooges. If you'r...e in a band buy it if you're not in a band buy it !! The basis of punk/new wave metal power blah blah... The original combination of sex, chaos, nihilism, pure energy & ....raw power ! Forget about post rave-disco, white hip-hop & emo ..live some get the Stooges in your system & play it loud or Iggy will do ya !
What in God's name did the idiots think: ...why remaster the greatest punk album of all time, let alone letting Iggy do it. I love the Bowie production of the opriginal viynl, but don't have a turntable anymore so I bought this, and it stinks. Get a turntable........... I guess, being charitable, if you've never heard Raw Power as it's supposed to be then this is great, but it doesn't begin to compare with how it should sound.
A Great album! This CD release has been re-mastered by I...ggy and it is mostly as fresh and dynamic as the original vinyl but occasionally you can hear the guitar volume shifting up and down to keep the vocals dominant. Not good, Iggy's singing doesn't need that sort of assistance. Generally the vocals are a bit too lifted in the mix. Small reservations though. Bob
