Hunting Bipods & Shooting Sticks
Hunting and shooting require specialist equipment, though there are some simple accessories you can add to your kit that will help your shooting. Hunting bipods and shooting sticks are two such accessories and you can find a large choice of both. So, whether you're looking to increase your comfort or accuracy when shooting, they'll be ideal.
Shooting Sticks
Shooting sticks fold up and can be used as a walking stick when on the move. This might be handy if you're walking over uneven ground and would like a little extra support. When you find a good spot for shooting they fold out and peg into the ground to make a seat. Most shooting sticks have a leather seat for comfort and a lightweight frame for easy transportation.
Telescopic Bipods
If you're moving from place to place, you're camping or on a long trip then you might want to consider a telescopic bipod. The benefit of being able to fold it down small is that it can be safely stowed away and easily carried around. The other major advantage is that you effectively have two bipods in one, covering you for multiple scenarios: folded for use down on the ground, or extended to shoot standing up.
Maybe you're not intending to trek through forests or across plains to hunt, in which case a fixed length bipod would be more appropriate.
Functional Design
When you're choosing a bipod, there are some elements that can be helpful to your shooting. For example, a bipod that is easy to attach to your rifle will make the shooting experience that much smoother. Likewise, a quick release mechanism is useful if you want to quickly remove your weapon from the bipod. Materials such as aluminium are lightweight and easy to transport, while rubber stoppers at the end of the legs help to stop the apparatus from slipping and causing inaccuracy.
