When I learned of this release; not only paying tribute to a brilliant man, but representing over forty years of music and artists he (Peel) appreciated, I had to own it. Featured on it is international music from Elmore James to the Cocteau Twins and beyond. Even vintage Pink Floyd and Loudon Wainwright accent the cultural flavour, while leaving the selections to remain as 'undefined' as possible. I was thankful the seller did all she could to get it to me for my birthday! it was the best present I could have asked for.
Bought the CD after reading the John Peel Sessions book. CD as interesting and varied as the sessions. Not many CD`s with acts as varied as Lonnie Donegan and Captain Beefheart !
What can i say? John P made my bathtime special for years, and nobody since he died has come near. Would have loved to have had some ludicrous Peelian comments and intros on the CD. Always as amusing as the music. RIP.
Bought as a present for my friend in the USA.I liked it so much I had to have a copy. All the favourtite tracks of the great man - compiled by Andy Kershaw.A teuly wonderful collection of music.
I decided to buy CD as i`d just finished reading John Peel`s Margrave of the Marshes book, the first CD was exellent, but found the second very patchy.
