Great band, great album, great buy!
It's a classic hard rock album and one of my favorites... gotta have it! Luckily I found it second hand on eBay for great price and I didn't hesitate.
Whitesnake - This one slides in nicely
I have enjoyed watching some of the tracks from this album live versions on Youtube, so decided it was high time to get my own copy! I have come via the Purple/Rainbow route and this album proves without a doubt that Cozy Powell always bought out the best in all the other musicians he played with. His realiable, distictive drumming is great on this album and brings a smile to my face on several occasions. Purple man Jon Lord also features here and it is a class line up of british musicians, who unfortunately (especially in a band whos line up changed so frequently) are unmentioned on the CD card. Opening slowly with Gambler, soon moves onto the slightly poppy Slide it in, advantage of this one is it is great to Dirty Dance to!!! shame the lyrics are not BBC friendly though or it would have been a good commercial proposition, features a nice not to long instrumental break. Standing in the Shadow (of Love not Blues) moves us on nicely, midway we have the great Love aint No Stranger and Slow and Easy. Love aint No Stranger is mine and my dear departed friends favourite Whitesnake track, if you dont know it, it must be one of the greatest Rock Ballads ever written, mixing great lyrics (yes really and Coverdale did write them!)with strong drumming, wonderful vocals and guitar playing to really air guitar to all wrapped up in a love song - A-mazing! These 2 tracks are pure class. Spit it out and All or Nothing are fast paced quality tracks, ending with the 100% pop-metal Guilty of Love, cant help but mosh to this track, there is no choice put to hit the replay button! in fact My only criticism is that at 10 tracks this album is just way too short LOL! This 1980s Collection of 10 great tracks would be at home today on any teenagers ipod, especially with some of Coverdales lyrics! In fact if you get the chance do what I do with great 80s rock, give it to a teenager to listen too, dont say who it is or how old, choose your favourite little know track and ask them what they think? Get the UK version, this album is a gem, I am so glad I did!Read full review
slide it in - whitesnake
excellent cd, whitesnake as i remember, great song writing and great guitarists, good sound mix, well worth getting this album
I like to listen to music from bands that I really liked when I was younger, well in my 20s. Whitesnake are one of those all time greats total and utter class, this album will be as good today as it was when first released.
WHITESNAKE-SLIDE IT IN
WHITESNAKE & DAVID COVERDALE have been around since the early 80s, they were part of what was known as nwobhm, & have since come to be an institution on the hard rock circuit, a group which never fail to deliver the goods, pick up any one of WHITESNAKES albums & you will not be disappointed with the results, not one bad track on any album this group have released, & i dont think i could say the same for any other band, & to top it all off, theyre BRITISH!!!!!
