WUTHERING HEIGHTS Remains one of the most powerful novels ever written,.The period of the tale is from 1771 to 1803 .WUTHERING HEIGHTS was written in the 1840s and publishd in 1847,. There are six films made that i know of,1939 1970 1978 1992 1998 2009.i have picked the 1998 film as my number one,but admit i have not yet watched the 2009 film,. My short review is the 1998 film EMILY BRONTE,S WUTHERING HEIGHTS,STARRING ROBERT CAVANAGH & ORLA BRADY,.The 1970 film is a close second.with TIMOTHY DALTON...........A man has to stay the night because of being snowed in a remote moorland farmhouse called WUTHERING HEIGHTS,he is shown to an unused chamber where he finds books and writings in the woodwork from a former inhabitant of the farmhouse called CATHERINE,.When he falls asleep his dreams are prompted by this person, and he has a nightmare where he sees her ghost trying to get in through the window,In the morning he asks the housekeeper to tell him the story of the family from the HEIGHTS,.The story starts with Mr EARNSHAW going to LIVERPOOL where he finds a homeless gypsy boy of about eight whom he decides to adopt as his son ,He names him HEATHCLIFF,.Mr EARNSHAW daughter CATHERINE grows very attached to him ,soon HEATHCLIFF and CATHERINE are like twins spending hours on the moors together running wild, but hating every moment apart, young HEATHCLIFF becomes like a servant instead of a member of the family ,. HEATHCLIFF over hears a conversation that CATHERINE could not marry HEATHCLIFF because his lack of status and education,HEATHCLIFF flees from the farmhouse,He disappears without trace, and after three years returns, but now CATHERINE has married,,.Three years and six months have now passed HEATHCLIFF is now a gentleman having grown stronger and richer during his absence,.The next part of the story i am going to leave untold,.This is a classic tale of love, jealousy and pain,...It challenges death itself and as some of us know ,"love" can be more powerful after death.!!!Read full review
