Charges up in the sunlight on my kitchen windowsill. It can also be wound up or plugged into mains with USB cable. The sound quality isn't fantastic as it's a tiny mono speaker but it's adequate for my needs.

the solar does not appear to charge the radio very well have had the radio charging in the window for approx 4 hours does not last after using every day for a month the reception is poor to the point of only picking up radio one other stations reception lost unless holding the radio or standing near the unit this defeats the purpose have moved the radio around rooms to no effect would not buy another waste of £15.99 expensive lesson to learn winding for one minute gives an approx 12-15 mins use depending on volume can only have volume less than 50% or sound is very distorted have bought a cheap pocket radio which takes 2 x aa batteries

I've had a few solar/wind up radios of other makes over the years with which this compares quite well. Sound is not bad for its size, the winding handle has smooth, easy action and all in all I'm happy with it. The notable design fault is having the solar panel sloped toward the same side as the speaker, so when it's charging in the window the sound is projecting away from you.

i use this radio in my car every day. it is superb for the money i paid for it, it is not a bosse system so dont expect it to be as you are not paying thousands for it. it is small and compact and the features are very good - 3 charging options, solar, wind up or mains. i use mine via solar panel, battery and usb connection and its fantastic. the tuner is very tight so it does not loose the set station. my only gripe about the radio is that if you use it whilst it is in the window for solar charging then the speaker is facing towards the window (and not out into the room) because of the tilt they have put on the solar panel on the radio it needs to be facing that way. apart from that then this is a fantastic little radio. do not hesitate, buy it.

A cheap but solid radio, it really does charge in sunlight and the battery life is as promised. The sound volume is quite good for it's size although the maximum volume is achieved within the first quarter turn of the control knob. Sound quality is very good for voice whilst music sounds slightly tinny but still quite clear. Reception in weak signal areas is very good - better than both my Sony analogue and digital portable radios. I am buying a second one to leave in my bathroom so it must be pretty good!
