Charity and fundraising policy

Policy overview

eBay helps individuals and organisations raise funds for charity. When you list an item through our dedicated programme, eBay for Charity, you can give all or part of the proceeds to charity.

eBay for Charity listings are:

  • Differentiated with a distinctive ribbon icon, and include information about the donation and benefiting charity in the item description.

  • Included within specialised charity search functionality.

What are the guidelines?

eBay for Charity listings

eBay has selected PayPal Giving Fund, a UK registered charity (No. 1110538) to help administer eBay for Charity. PayPal's service and support includes:

  • Providing the charity directory for eBay for Charity.

  • Verifying that charities are eligible for this programme

  • Tracking donations online

  • Collecting and distributing sellers' donations and GiftAid to their chosen charities.

You can list with eBay for Charity if you:

  • Accept the eBay for Charity terms and conditions.

  • Agree to donate at least 10% (1% for vehicles) of the final sale price to a charity listed in the charity directory if the item sells

    • Note: The charity that you select has the right to request an item cancellation if they prefer not to benefit from your listing.

eBay is working with PayPal Giving Fund to make charitable listing easy and safe, so buyers and sellers can be sure their donations reach their intended charity.
