eBay for Charity – Information for charities

About eBay for Charity

eBay for Charity is the dedicated programme for charity listings on eBay.

Once your charity has registered with PayPal Giving Fund, it'll be included in eBay's charity directory.

You can fundraise with eBay for Charity in different ways:

  • Community selling – Anyone can sell an item on eBay and donate between 10% and 100% of the final sale price to charity (1% minimum for vehicle sales). The resulting donation will be collected from the seller by PayPal Giving Fund and distributed to you. Learn more about Community Selling.

PayPal Giving Fund will notify you of the listing according to your charity account preferences. If you prefer your charity not to be associated with the listing, you may request that the listing be cancelled within your PayPal Giving Fund account.

  • Direct selling – As a direct seller, your charity can list an item for sale on eBay. Make sure you add your eBay User ID to your charity's PayPal Giving Fund account. PayPal Giving Fund does not process the donation in this type of transaction.

    Learn more about Direct Selling.

  • Give at Checkout - Any of your supporters can make you a favourite charity on eBay. They can do this by clicking the Save as Favourite button on your charity's profile page. When they pay through eBay Checkout for an item they've won, they can add a small donation to PayPal Giving Fund to benefit your cause.

eBay for Charity listings are marked with a charity icon . In addition, donation information is displayed in the item description, instilling buyer confidence and trust. Charity listings receive additional visibility through specialised search functionality, and tend to sell more often, with more bids and at higher final prices.

As an added benefit, when an eBay for Charity listed item sells, eBay will refund the seller's Insertion and Final Value Fees in proportion to the percent donated. Your direct selling listings also qualify. Learn more about the eBay for Charity Fee Credit Policy.

Note: PayPal Giving Fund is the UK registered charity (No. 1110538) that eBay has selected to help administer eBay for Charity. PayPal Giving Fund's service and support includes: providing the charity directory for eBay for Charity, verifying that charities are eligible for this programme, tracking donations online, and collecting and distributing sellers' donations and Gift Aid.
