World Book Day

World Book Day

World Book Day is an event that is celebrated in over 100 countries around the world, encouraging children to discover the wonderful world of reading and books.

When is World Book Day 2017?

World Book Day always takes place in early March. This year, World Book Day falls on Thursday 2nd March, with World Book Day 2018 on Thursday 1st March and World Book Day 2019 on Thursday 7th March.

The day is celebrated with a whole host of local and national events designed to get children reading. The biggest of these is the 14 million free book vouchers that are issued to schools, which are aimed at getting children into bookshops. These can be exchanged for one of ten free books, or £1 off any other book costing over £2.99.
