GT 5 .. lightweight with good features

Good graphics and feel, disappointed at how few 2nd hand cars you can buy at any one time, and the lack of "world" class tracks, so few in retrospect, when you consider the amount in the Original.

GT5 REVIEW

This game took 4 years to produce but the real reason is because sony kept delaying after several reasons, 3D, SDK, Hacked, this that etc.
The game camt out , we fans were all happy but eventually you can see that this product is only half of it.
the menus are ugly and taken straight from the older GT series, the cars which are premium look great but have jaggy shadows, the game has way too many standard cars which look like a ps2 games on ps3 hardware which is a disgrace to us fans who actually hyped up this product.
overal 8/10

graphics - no big deal
damage - completly rubbish
online - nothing to do besides host , no auction or challenges.
splitscreen - boring just standard vs, no drift or free run
replayability - not really takes atleast a full month to finish the game 100% and then nothing left to do.
loading times- are slow but decent considering how big this game is
optional HDD install - 8gb of my HDD i had to consider ugprading ¬_¬
simulation - great but does not have the thrill of going fast.
steering wheels- adds to the fun but cost alot
limits- only send 1 car a day, max cash 20mil
video - cannot record videos and upload to youtube as promised.
offline - series of challenges and events
dealership is tiny as most cars are standard.

Great Game, but not as brilliant as expected

I bought this game with very high expectations after GT4 and all the reviews I had heard. Lets start with the Cons:
- There may be over 1000 cars available to buy but you can only use a fraction of those in the races in GT Mode unless you are racing online.
- There are only 9 races per mode (begginer, expert etc) so the last game had more, and the races are mostly involving cars that you will use for one race then never use again, e.g. a useless pick up truck
- Each race takes forever to load even if you have installed/saved the 8GB game to your PS3 Harddrive
- Just on a personal point, I used to like the special rallies but there are only about 5 in the whole game, and even then you don't win a car.
- Instead of having to complete licenses to unlock races tou have to level up by either completing the licenses for fun (some of which have levels that are near impossible to do let alone get the gold standard times which even then dont give you any good cars until you reach I-A) or completing races.
- B-Spec mode is annying and way to drawn out (unlike GT4 you cant just use b-spec to complete the endurance races which you actually have to do yourself both in A-spec and B-spec)

Pro's:
- The graphics are superb! You wil not be disappointed with this!
- When you can figure out how to get onto the online play with friends it is very sharp and flexible
- All the cars are much more modifiable than previous games and requires more knowledge to acheive the best results rather than just adding maximum BHP and flooring it!
- You can get both Ferrari's and Lambo's some of which are awesome some are shockingly bad.

All in all it is a brilliant game providing you lower your expectations slightly first. Either way it gets very addictive (I have even got my non-gaming girlfriend hooked on it!)

Definately buy this game!

Gran Turismo 5 (Sony PlayStation 3)

Bought this for my hubby and he sold it on about a week later. The product is very stylish but little else. The music is fantastic the cars are amazing the courses are perfect with a great choice of cities, day, night etc... and a superb range of prestigious cars, but the game itself just feels like it's trying too hard to be sleek.
Our major gripe was the cars not appearing damaged or fractured after even the most spectacular of crashes, for me that was enough to write it off as unrealistic, yep, not even a scratch, the car just gets back on the course in perfect condition fully operational and ready to drive. I appreciate that for some people a car that doesn't show any damage after a smash might be a bonus, but I don't think it serves any purpose other than to protect the image of the car manufacturers featured, it certainly didn't enhance my experience, just turned me off. My husband just didn't like the fell of it, it was smart and snazzy but too drawn out I suppose, a game he COULD live without!

great graphics, great fun, but can be frustrating.

very good graphics. some of the licenses nigh on impossible, especially if want get all golds. dont even bother trying top gear track vw camper race. very nice cars, even ferrari for a change. unfortunately no porsche, not even a ruf version like previous games. need keep checking used car showroom for models needed in certain catagories. very entertaining yet at same tine frustrating game, being disqualified for body contacts, bit over the top. thanx for readingRead full review...

The safest way to have real racing experience!

I am a big fan of Racing Sims and I do go-kart racing. I find the game realistic and representative of the type of skills one needs to enter a real race. The game is only worth with a good steering wheel and good pedals (especially when turning off the ABS). I have minor complaints about the AI of the other cars in a race and most of the career races are too easy to win. In my opinion the best feature of the game is the quality of grip simulation between cars, tyres and settings.Read full review...

Fantastic car game.

Once loaded on to my PS3 was extremely pleased with the game. Had hours of fun moving up from a learner.
Second hand game has given me no operational problems.

Gran Turismo 5

I bought Gran Turismo because I play it since it came out GranTurismo 2 and always gave more than other games. With this Gran Turismo bothers me the only thing not included all the tracks from previous games and events offered a little more riding on the trails. Moreover it seems to me that I'll finish this gran turismo much earlier than last games. If were offered much a choice of premium cars and all those from the Prologue would be a lot happier. I am thrilled to have provided driver's view out of the car but unfortunately only premium car's.I understand that some things must be left to continue, which will soon reach even better.Zdravko.Read full review...

Grantastic!

Cracking game, and really great to race against your buddies on-line.... takes a bit of time to get a decent car as you have to earn cash to buy them as well as 'experience points' to unlock the more powerful motors. The on-line 'seasonal' races are the quickest way to build up some cash so you can pimp your ride. Graphics are amazing and cars look really shiny.
Its worth investing in race tyres and customised engine so you can get the max speed and acceleration. Plenty of other tweaks are possible too to enhance the car's performance.
No codes needed to do on-line play like on Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (so no problem buying second hand game), but no 'damage' shows to the car when you crash into walls/other cars, but it still costs you a fortune to 'repair' them. If they could combine the race/damage style of NfS Hot Pursuit with the 'free' on-line racing of GT5 then it would be absolute no brainer which one to buy!... until the do though, I'll have to play both.
