great crane
this was a very fun kit to build really enjoyed building it and also using it. it has provided several hours of enjoyment.
I would make a suggest that instead of tieing the line for the boom off to a post I would make the drum be two drums instead of one and have the line run back down to the drum this way when you boom up/down the force is being pulled on evenly. Along with this I would also suggest added more line to the boom cable and also to the hoist line along with giving a actual hook for the crane.

Substantial toy
We gave this to my 8 yr old for Christmas; it took him a total of ~10hrs to put it together unassisted. Instructions are excellent and resulted in a very impressive toy. It doesn't move very fast but the gearing provides adequate torque to lift quite a bit of weight in the jaws. I have put this set together five times now. Finally decided I wanted to keep one together to play with. I have the set together on a table now The power functions are so well done and it looks good.<br>
