The Way will touch your inner being: A great reflective move!!
We had seen The Way over a decade ago when it was first released. A few years ago we watched it again. I ordered this DVD of The Way as a 'sales tool'. Let me explain:
The first time we saw the movie over a decade ago, it touched something in my inner being. Recovering from prostate cancer a couple of years ago, then a very minor heart issue in May 2022, I started cardio-rehab for three months, then became a regular gym atendee. As i was walking on treadmill at the gym in early January 2023, The Way crept into my thoughts. I needed to walk the Camino de Santiago. As I will be 72 at the start of my walk, my wife thought I was nuts wanting to do this. We agreed if GP and caridologist approved, and I trained for the walk, that I would be allowed two weeks to walk part of the pilgrimage. Devious me, I ordered the DVD. We watched The Way as I was now a month into my training. At the end of the movie, my wife turned to me and said, "I get it, take your time, and enjoy the entire walk." I don't know if I will be able to do the entire 500 miles, but my heart tells me I can. I will start my journey in mid September, and plan to walk 35 days.Read full review

Inspirational movie...now I want to go on the pilgrimage!
Really good acting, great story. I've always heard about the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela; this movie brings it to life! Although a few of the scenes seemed mundane, the movie presented a realistic portrayal of a 500+ mile walk to find God, faith, and inner peace.Read full review

Scenery and characters with depth
Movie with depth and characters that you will remember. We watched this movie on recommendation by a priest that said it was great. So rented it off Prime and decided it was a keeper. Keepers mean find the hard copies and get them in our library of watch again. This one is worth it, the scenery in mountains of Spain is beautiful the characters all have depth and the ending does make you cry but feel like something was accomplished. This isn't an action movie, but it will still keep you watching! 121 minuteRead full review
Inspiring
This movie is very inspiring and thought provoking. Suttle humor. Poignant moments. Beautiful scenery. And a great story line. More impressive is it was filmed in the now and many of the characters were real people in real time walking The Way. I have seen it several times on TV. Now I have purchased it to share with my family and friends.Read full review

Inspiring
I REALLY enjoyed this movie! It brought together several scenarios I can directly relate to especially in regards to a somewhat and sometime tenuous relationship between a father who sees his values as correct and his son's as the total opposite. While the movie covers the Camino of San James it also uncovers relatable motivations of the various pilgrims. Anyway, I'm sold on the pilgrimage and I will definitely make my Way before I leave this World...God willing!Read full review

The Way
What a wonderful story about a fathers love and devotion to his son, to carry out his pilgrimage and to close out an unfinished life mission. Very moving and truly realistic. Great movie. I have passed on how well I enjoyed it to many people. They have since purchased the DVD and enjoyed it as much as I.Read full review

determination
this is an engaging story about a father's love for his son. The ending has a little bit of a twist. The countryside is beautiful and focuses on the people who make life a good experience.
I wish there was a sequel.Read full review

Great Video
I actually walked the complete Camino Francis (530 miles), the one done in the movie, and then walked the Camino Vis de la Plata (630 miles) three months later last year, and the movie brought back a lot of good memories. Even though the movie was a little Hollywood at times, it was a good movie that mixed a good sentimental story with the experience of the Camino Santiago. And yes, for some of us those feelings at the end of our Caminos were as real as those shown in the movie! I saw many people crying, cheering and overcome by the experience. I have watched this movie over and over and never get tired of it!Read full review
A Really Special Movie
I bought this dvd as a gift for an old friend - after seeing it many times. Watching it is almost a devotional experience, and the theme seems to get deeper each time I re-watch it. You'll see as the story goes on.
On first viewing I thought it was just a low budget film thrown together as a tribute to The Camino. But it's extremely well done, with lively, sensitive characters and an endearing story. Martin Sheen is terrific.
