A VERY solid unit, which these days is bargain!
I've owned one of these for a short amount of time, but am basically blown away by it. You know it's going to be good when you buy one - it weighs a HUGE amount, and there doesn't seem to be any expense spared in building them. I can't say for sure about whether the stabiliser (which you sit on top of the CD before closing the drawer) makes any real difference in itself. I'm also not 100% convinced about the 'switchable digital filter' that is to the bottom left of the unit. All I know is that this is a LOT better a player than you can pick up for under £150 these days, and is seriously built to last. Just make sure you pair it up to a quality amp and speakers, and you'll be confident you've bought a superb player. Don't expect it to shine when rigged up to sub-par components because you may struggle to hear some of the extra detail that a unit such as this can provide. Personally I actually listen mainly though headphones, using QED interconnects and a vacuum tube amplifier. Sonic Bliss :)

Alcotec 48 turbo pure super yeast alcohol spirit free P&P

Interesting yeast. I don't get the quoted speed but I do ferment in gallon batches at room temp (20c)
Bought this on a whim as I've just started homebrewing. I've made a few different fruit based wines, including supermarket juice based wines, but fancied seeing what a turbo could do. What results do I have? Better than expected. From start to racked, cleared and bottled fruit free wine in a week. I've no intention to distil so I make batches in gallon demijohns, only one at a time, by splitting the Alcotec 48hr into 5 separate yeast portions. My room temperature is 19>20c which is on the cool side, certainly for the lower alcohol fermentations (I normally aim for 15%), so I'm sure I could get a faster result by fermenting at about 30c but this works fine for me. Flavour? Not bad at all. I've heard people say that turbo yeasts taste awful, but I think if you go for lower temperatures and don't push them they are fine. I haven't tried using one for a fruit based wine yet (not really what turbo yeast is designed for!) but will probably do that next, with a side by side using my normal 'express' wine yeast, which I believe is actually a champagne yeast.

Excellent soundstage, but the fit can be a problem!
Just to note that the pair I've just bought on eBay are actually my second pair - I'm a bit of a fan of these, especially at the price I just paid (approx £145 inc P&P from a USA seller, to the UK). Basically, instead of being 'headphones', these are a pair of spherical speakers which hang outside your ear on adjustable supports, with a 'bass-tube' which sits in your ear. They come with all you could need - battery powered (2xAAA) amplifier (called a 'booster'), leather-look case, extension cable, foam covers for the bass-tubes, instructions... As a headphone nut (heck I've had 30 pairs of models from portable Sennheiser PX100s, to Grado's mahogany GS1000 and everything in-between), I can say these offer a superb image / soundstage - they sound less like headphones, and more like you are sitting in front of speakers. A nice warm presenation when correctly fitted and when using the included foams - treble is there, but the bass frequencies are more prominent. Luckily I like a warm sound. Don't mistake that with cheap, bass-only headphones - but if you are looking for a completely neutral presentation, look elsewhere. - However, they can be a little awkward to fit, and if you don't get the fit right, you may well suffer from pain caused by the bass-tubes putting pressure on the tragus / antitragus of your ear (where the tube rests). You may find that wearing the included foams alleviates this - if not, try adjusting the positioning of the speakers - the headband is adjustable, as are the speakers themselves, allowing you to rest the headband on the top of the ear to 'take the weight'. Please note as well - these are *speakers* - and as such, they do leak a lot of sound. You will not want to wear these in noisy locations (as you have to turn the sound up a lot to drown out external noise), or quiet locations (as everyone will hear exactly what you are listening to). When all is considered, I rate them 5* - especially at the price I paid - despite being a bit fiddly to fit, they really do offer a great, spacious sound, which compares well to similar dynamic headphones, but with a much more speaker-like presentation (that is, not like sound is being pumped into your ear, but is coming from in front of you as you'd normally experience with speakers).
