The best CD I have bought in years, a wonderful listening experience.
Having recently seen Joan Viskant perform at the Buxton Opera House with the All-Star Goodmen Orchestra I was very impressed with everything about her performance, although she only had a couple of numbers to sing during the Benny Goodman 1938 Carnegie Hall recreation Jazz Concert it left me wanting to hear more from this elegant lady. At the risk of overstating my opinion of her diction and singing I could quite easily seeing her taking over the void left by Ella Fitzgerald. And so I looked for a CD and came across this one which I rate very highly and would recommend it to anyone the backing of the orchestra conducted by John Altman must come in for a special mention Joan is in the company of some great musicians including Alan Barnes who I met at the Jersey Jazz Festival a couple of years ago and in particular Guy Barker on Trumpet in fact every member did justice to some great arranging underpinning the whole set. Not one bad track, a great buy and a wonderful sound.
