Huge disappointment.
1 of 1 found this helpful Mostly a collection of pictures and anecdotes about dog behaviors that MIGHT be calming signals but also MIGHT be several other things. Just one example: Rugaas concludes that when a dog turns its head that is a sign that the dog is uncomfortable, which MIGHT be true. But it also MIGHT be the dog responding to an unusual sound or it MIGHT be seeing a distant moving object, etc. etc. Rugaas typically focuses in on only one interpretation of common dog behaviors like licking the nose, turning away, sniffing, yawning, tail waging, etc. all of which have multiple interpretations. More of a pamphlet than a book--only 75 small pages and many of them have only abbreviated text. No index.
