Thebes: The Forgotten City of Ancient Greece by Paul Cartledge

A great read for history students and people with an interest in the subject.
This was a fascinating read, with clear maps to aid understanding of the historical context. Paul Cartledge has an engaging writing style which appeals to students and people just wanting to learn more about Thebes and it’s importance in the Ancient world. I would recommend this book, and other titles by the author, such as Ancient Greece: A History in Eleven Cities.
