Excellent gaming platform for its time
Of course, now, its not the best; that's why I gave it a "good" instead of an "excellent." But for some of the good things about it: - Plenty of games available for it - DVD movie and audio CD playing feature - CD's for the games enable much more space, used by things like cutscenes, (maybe) better music, more "stuff" in general, rather than cartridges - Online gaming capability - USB and FireWire ports, compatible with some devices - A good selection of special controllers and other accessories - Even if it is unofficial, the ability to "hack" it and make your own programs for it/load programs onto it. - Powerful graphics processing capability for its time - Ability to play PS1 games - Its relative cheapness right now, since much better systems are out there now, the price has gone way down, but if you don't need the best stuff, a Playstation 2 can still be very entertaining.

    A great adventure
This was one of the best adventure games I've ever played. Even though the graphics are far outdated, the sound quality is still very comparable to modern sound in games, and aside from that, it's a great story in my opinion and has some excellent replay value. They made very good use of the graphics technology available back then, so the artwork is very good. The story is serious, but with humorous things added here and there, and with a good amount of suspense and surprises. There is a soundtrack and novel of this game--now they just need to make a movie of it!

    Extremely good video card
When the NVidia 8800 GTX came out, it was top of the line. It still is one of the best for gaming, even after around 1.5 years after its launch (as of 6/12/08). One of them, along with the rest of a fast PC, can easily run any game out there, most of them on maximum graphics settings. I reckon it is about the fifth-best card you can buy right now for gaming, if not better; An overclocked version like BFG's OC2 model might take better than 5th place (I'm speculating). It does take a lot of power; I heard the reference (unmodified) model can take up to 185 watts or so at maximum--however, it is pretty power-efficient for its computing amount, compared to some other cards (mostly older ones I think), and it is very large compared to many other cards, at about 275mm in length, and the BFG OC2 version takes the space of two PCI slots with its large cooler; however, most other versions of the 8800 GTX have these two-slot setups as well. Here is a comparison of the speeds of BFG's OC2 model to the speeds of the reference model: Core Clock: 626MHz (vs. 575MHz standard) Shader Clock: 1450MHz (vs. 1350MHz standard) Memory Data Rate: 2000MHz (vs. 1800MHz standard) The retail package of the BFG OC2 model comes with a handful of accessories, including a (large) black BFG t-shirt with a dark-looking bald man with his hands over his head. With the wattage, it does increase the temperature a bit inside a PC case, but if the case has good airflow through it, and each component has adequate cooling (like the CPU, etc.), then the temperature increase shouldn't harm the other parts, they will just be a little warmer. If you want to get the most powerful card available now, get the 9800 GX2 with 1GB of RAM. It does better in more games than the 8800 GTX (I may be understating that), and only takes a few more watts.
