Great coil spring compressors
5 of 7 found this helpful They work well on bmw e46 front coil springs. I span the clamps from the outer spring seat to around 3 or 4 coils. That way you don't have to compress the spring so much as you have mpre of the spring between the jaws of the clamp.
Safety: Expect it to explode and shoot shrapnel into your face and body so wear gloves, shield, overalls and seat the base of the strut against something heavy so if it does go it'll shoot away from you.
Old strut in picture, i replaced with nice new ones. Springs are the original bmw from factory after 130k miles and 16 years.

Waste of time
The flywheel lock is the wrong length AND too thick. So that didn't fit.
The camshaft locking tools cannot be bolt together - hole for bolt too far apart.
As for the rest, you have to trust they are right and will not know! Do your caps ( that connect to your vanos going to be in the right place? Are your chain sprocket s going to be in the right place?
