The Witches' Book of the Dead, Christian Day, Good Book

    Very compelling how-to book
A sound explanation of this very somber practice. Directions are clear and easy to understand. The author I'd very convincing.

    Scholarly, informed, eminently readable.
This is an erudite and well-informed book, one of the rare ones today that straddles prechristian Essenism and the Gnostic schools which flourished in the 1st, 2nd. and 3rd. centuries. The timeline between the two is called the intertestamental period, when many, many sacred writings of a highly mystical nature were being written and read by many religious communities but which never became part of the canon of scripture of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The book is eminently readable by members of current religions and sects who are curious about their origins. My only complaint is that the author made far too many references to Rudolf Steiner, a highly intelligent armchair occultist/anthropologist whose ideas became contaminated by his early association with Blavatsky/Baker's Theosophy. This latter is replete with a strange and sinister mish-mash of metaphysical beliefs that became obsessed with dark "messianic" occultism. Theosophy in turn, served as a powerful, behind-the-scenes shaper of National Socialism and Adolf Hitler (no kidding). And, contrary to the author's assertion, Steiner was quite wrong with regard to a large number of the ideas he espoused, given the newer scientific knowledge that we have today. That being said, if you can read the book and take references to Steiner with a colossal grain of salt, there is much of value that can be learned from this scholarly book.
