Happy with my purchase...
I must confess I ordered this in a hurry (when our old one died) and so hadn't noticed until after purchasing it that this kettle's plastic parts were brown rather than the black I'd assumed them to be. At first, I was all set to send it back. After all, who wants a brown kettle, right? When it was delivered shortly afterwards, however, I saw to my relief that the shade of brown used was so dark as to be almost indistinguishable from black unless you look closely. So it's not really an issue and all the other aspects of the kettle are perfectly acceptable. It has the pretty LED lights my wife insisted upon and it boils quickly enough too. You have to lift the lid manually (there's no button to do that for you) but that's not a deal-breaker for us and it's one less thing to go wrong too. All in all, it looks to be a decent quality kettle at a more than acceptable price. Just be sure you don't mind having a brown kettle in your kitchen - albeit in a very dark shade of brown!
