Magic Made Real
In an age when special effects were very crude Douglas Fairbanks shines as both an athlete and actor. At a time when any Arabian Tales couldn't be faithfully published because of their erotic content this film captures the essence of the age when Iraq was truly considered not only magical and esoteric but the birthplace of mankinds culture.
In that respect history has made fools of us all as the magic of the world seems to have been trampled in the dust.
So take an hour or so from your grind and taste what life could be like if we could only transfer our hopes from this early movie to real life.
If you can't then steal some time at bedtime and escape into this film. You may even become a Thief of your own Baghdad in your dreams.
Life is filled with magic and adventure. Fairbanks was living proof as was his son.
I hope you enjoy this film as much as I did.

1 of 1 found this helpful These recordings , are very faithful to the originals by Hardy.They leave one full of emotion and a feeling that you have actually been present, as a witness , in this romantic tragedy .
I fell in love with Tess , many years ago, but still wish she hadn't told Angel Claire about her past.It destroyed their lives .I am sure its a situation that still happens today.
I believe that people should be held responsible for their actions but we can still ,and should , weep for Tess.
This edition is worth buying even if you have other productions. Its real value for money .
