A forensic approach to finding the monster
Ronald Binns approaches the mystery of the Loch Ness monster with the determination of a forensic scientist analysing the evidence and leaving no stone unturned. He not only carefully considers each of the the sightings but also the photographs and the environmental conditions. He meticulously assesses the evidence of all those who have claimed sightings or who have produced photographic or film evidence and he offers plausible explanations. For the most part he is understanding of those passionate monster-seekers and he only suggests a hoax if he believes that the evidence warrants it. There are photographs of cormorants and otters both of which have a resemblance to the monster outline taken from a distance. The story has gained such world-wide interest that inevitably there is an industry that quite simply just wants to believe. This book is a real page-turner and reveals interesting information about the whole Loch Ness Monster saga. It is well worth a read.

Exceptionally fine jazz!
This CD comprises of a very high standard of performance jazz. Each musician brings to the recording superb individual and ensemble performances of jazz classics celebrating Nat Gonella's life. Digby Fairweather has bought together some of the best possible musicians including the fabulous John Barnes and Pete Strange as well as guerst performances from Wild Bill Davison and former Georgian band members Tiny Winters and Pat Smuts. This, combined with wonderful vocals from Lisa Lincoln, who I had not heard before, makes it a CD that represents the very best in value. Each of the musicians, without exception, play jazz at its very best. But the praise must really go to Digby Fairweather for the inspiration behind the project. He pulled it together and he made it happen and it is him we must thank for a CD to be enjoyed and cherished!I can't praise it enough!

Favourite place on earth
For anyone remotely interested in books or second-hand bookshops, this book is a must. The author, and owner of the shop, has his patience tried by a range of challenging customers, some of whom consider second hand books as a source of disease, and many of whom assume that any book can always be reduced in price, often with less than sensitive negotiations. The book is a diary record of a year in the life of the Wigtown Bookshop in Galloway, but it is not just about books. The owners relationship with buyers, sellers, friends, staff, volunteers, neighbours and Captain, the cat contribute to a hugely enjoyable read. Perhaps the greatest fun derives from Nicky, who works in the shop, and who provides treats from the Morrison's skip on 'Foodie Friday'. She also has her own unique way of deciding under which category the books will be filed. I loved this book, which transformed me to my favourite place on earth - a second-hand bookshop.
