- x***y (624)- Feedback left by buyer.More than a year agoVerified purchaseTHANK YOU. The huge fly-in-the-ointment was Evri, who updated tracking to say they'd damaged the item and aborted delivery - and would I please tell the seller! ... Seller instantly refunded, and then without charge forwarded to me the item (which Evri had returned it to him). Better a damaged photo than none at all !

Compelling from the first chapter
I enjoy reading the full series of fiction by several authors; Peter James is top of the list and this latest in the Roy Grace series is superb. Compelling from the first chapter, I found myself rationing the number of pages per day to make it last!
My bonus : I’m a former resident of Brighton so the settings are even more vivid .

Book of the Decade
This is a compelling piece of work on many levels possibly made even more so for me ,having worked in Dresden.
Interwoven with the personal stories of some of the survivors, it is an important history book and is graphic and vivid in the illustration of the horror of the bombing waves, the vileness of the Gestapo in the treatment of the Jewish community and the inept selfishness of the Gauleiter while the city burned.
I have experienced tears, shock and fury while reading this book and any future visit to Dresden will have a heightened poignancy.
I can’t recommended this work highly enough- it’s my book of the decade.
