Well made
it's fine, just a little strong on the clamping actions which I guess is a good thing, i.e., good holding power.

Not suitable for lens work
The unit is fine except that no matter how much I tighten the screws there's still play (movement) of the points. As an experiment, I locked it down and measured the distance between the points with slight inward pressure and then outward pressure. The points move a full 1/4 inch which is ridiculous when working with precision equipmnet like lenes.
Too much wiggle room for me.

Good match for Canon Rebel series
According to DXOMARK this in the top four lens in this zoom range. The other three better lens are are all Canon L glass and $$$$. This is a great value.
