DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Motherboard
1 of 1 found this helpful If you want AMD socket 939 Athlon motherboard the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Motherboard is outstanding. Apart from not having a centronix/parallel printer port and on-board VGA it can cater for most eventualities.
One sure fire warning though is that you must have a high power quality ATX power unit and the correct recommended RAM. My mother board sometimes failed to boot up but when I obtained 4Gbyte of matched RAM and a meaty power supply unit I have had no problems.
My own present power unit is rated 650 Watt and boots up every time. I have tried other power units ranging from 350 to 600 Watt and it becomes hit and miss whether the computer will boot up.
Sometimes you may see one of these motherboards advertised on ebay as faulty with random failure to boot up, while the motherboard may indeed be faulty it could well be due to the above factors.
It is possible to change the hard disk boot up priority from within the bios which means you can have more than one operating sysytem, depending on the number of hard drives you have. presently I have XP Pro on one drive and Vista
ultimate on the other.
The DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D Motherboard is reputed to be very good for games. I cannot comment on that because I have no interest in games. However the PC works very well on the above operating systems, even Vista which is reputed to be very demanding on resourses. All together a very good board, which is why I have bought a spare one. Enjoy.
