4-book set of Winnie the Pooh
This is a 4-book set of Winnie the Pooh by AA Milne. I haven't opened it - it will be a Christmas present.
Winnie the Pooh doesn't need a review. Everybody loves it! It was a part of my childhood - a pleasure that I passed on to my daughters. My elder daughter, approaching 40, recently bought for her own pleasure "When we were very young" - a book of rhymes by A.A. Milne that comes with the set. I was glad that this was a memorable and pleasurable part of her childhood, and now I am going to pass it on to my grand children.

Morphy Richards "Pebble" Espresso Machine
When machines are new, they are always fine and dandy. Reviews are most useful when they are written by people who have used the product for some time. However, I have been asked to review this expresso machine.

I bought the machine to replace a Hitachi ESP01 that I had used 3, 4 or 5 times per day, every day for the last 13 years. If they were still available, then I suppose I would have been able to buy the rubber seal for the coffee grains container. However, they don't make them any more, so I had to replace the entire machine.
The Morphy Richards works pretty much the same, but it makes what most people would consider a more satisfying cup of coffee, as it has a good "crema" - a layer of foam on the surface, which my previous machine did not. This is produced by a valve on the bottom of the coffee grains container, but I find it much more difficult to empty the grains container than I did with the Hitachi, which only required a simple tap on the edge of the trash can, where the used grains have to be dug out of the M.R. with a knife or spoon. Consequently, I now use the container cup from the Hitachi, which is the same diameter and fits perfectly. The convenience of emptying it is more valuable to me than the foam on the coffee, and the flavour of the coffee is the same.
The machine has not given any trouble, heats up in about a minute, looks good in my kitchen, and makes nice coffee - but I would expect that. It is new.
Overall, I think the purchase was good value.

Genius Black Multimedia Speakers
These speakers are made for a PC, laptop, etc, but I am using them on my Sony Bravia TV. For two and a half years, I have suffered the poor spound quality from this tv, which hangs on the wall and has its internal speakers pointing towards the wall. Sound quality has always been very poor, so I finally decided to do something about it, and bought these speakers. The TV has a regular audio output socket (which acceepts the speaker jack), and it also has a free USB sockets which is now powering my speakers. The sound quality is very much better than before, and where I could hardly understand what people were saying at times, everything is clear now.
I bought these speakers in particular because of their regular, speaker shape, which fits nicely in the wall brackets I made.
They're crtainly doing the job for me, so I recommend them. I don't know how long they will last, but they seem well made.
