Soft maple neck, but adjusted up good,the pickups are fine for a beginner, I installed a semour Duncan JB in the bridge position, that woke it up. Emg 81 85 combo would also be a good choice.mine came with .009 strings on it, replaced with 11s for some bite.. the trem is powder coated brass, average..works fine, install foam pad behind the springs to quiet them. It's a 300 dollar guitar, you can't expect top shelf sound or feel for the money, but with a few tweaks they play quite well.

Katana mini
Small is gonna sound small,lacks headroom.., it works well for what it is, and is articulate, harmonics chime decent, gain is fair. I did the external Jack mod on it, no real improvement using it.. all in all if you want portable with headphones and a decent sound this is it for the price point.

0 of 1 found this helpful Long story short, if you want a really good chorus, harmonizer and a 12 string emulator in one pedal, buy it. I bought this for the detune function mainly, and I find it lacking, due to the fact that it copies the signal and mixes it, translation... You hear the octive of your original signal, so power chords are interesting, but single notes are really noticably harmonized, like it or not, this would be an awesome device if you could separate the dt and harmony function, opens lots of possibilities for nu metal stuff.. I'll keep it for kicks and grins, but if you are looking for a straight detune, keep looking.
