Fascinating and Informative
I had no knowledge of this tragic historical event until a few years ago when i began to research my family tree. I was born In the 50’s and lived just a few miles from where the dam was situated and yet knew nothing. My childhood was spent roaming and playing the areas that were devastated in the flood: i wish I had known and explored deeper! Reading Mick’sbook has brought this area to life again for me as I left Sheffield 40 years ago. Its packed with meticulous information; each chapter can be read with ease and at random and it has certainly enlivened my family tree research. Irrespective of whether you are from Sheffield or not, this book outlines heat-wrenching insight to the suffering caused by this devastation ; this was not a natural disaster, but Mick discusses in depth cause and effect. I will be reading and re- reading this book for a very ling time
