Not what I was hoping for
I bought this because I have just become a manager of a junior ice hockey team and I thought "it doesn't matter what the sport is, the principles of getting the best from the team will be the same". I was quite disappointed by this book because there are no insights into Osborne's coaching techniques or how he got the best from his players. the majority of the book is a catalogue of players he has coached, the awards they received (none of which made any sense to a Brit like me) and went on to play in the NFL. All of whom basically say what a great coach and guy Osborne is; and I have no doubt he is too but I didn't learn anything from this book.
from the whole book I took a couple of tips to consider but other than that it was a waste of my time reading it. It could be reduced to a leaflet containing the chapter headings and a few examples under each one.

ideal alternative to the ice hockey bottle
my son plays U11 ice hockey and has to wear a full-face cage to play and train. usually the players use special hockey water bottles with an extended 'straw' so that they can drink through the face cage. after watching them it seems they have to tilt their heads back to get the water or turn the bottle upside down and drink that way; both of which work fine. but I thought there must be a better way. after trawling the internet I came across this bottle and thought I'd give it a go.
it works perfectly. the curved straw is great because he can now drink without tilting his head or having his view of the game blocked by his arm while he holds his other bottle upside down. and as all hockey players know-never take you eye off the puck! now he doesn't need to, so I'm happy to recommend this bottle for junior ice hockey players.
