Meditations for Adoptive Parents

When my husband and I were considering adopting older children, we reached a copy of this book from off our shelves and reread it. The quotes from parents who had children both by birth and by adoption and whose hearts could tell no difference, and quotes from parents who had adopted older children and affirmed that bonding can happen not just at birth but also later in life, encouraged us. The fact that it was I who had done the research about this topic and had interviewed the adoptive parents made it even more meaningful. So, my own research turned around to bless us! (At the time I did the research for the book, we had only had experience with adopting two children as infants.) Yes, we were indeed then given the opportunity to adopt older children and can verify the words in the interviews with our own personal experience. Both birth mothers and adoptive parents as well as counsellors have praised the book, and it received the Silver Angel Award in 1993. This book has been reprinted a number of times, and I like this particular cover the best; so when I saw it offered for sale here, I snatched it up!
