A true "meh..."
1 of 1 found this helpful I purchased a version for my Mossberg 500 with an 18.5" smooth barrel to serve a HD purpose. I didn't have confidence in a simple fiber optic for night applications and was swayed by the tritium description of the Meprolight. The price was good considering it was only slightly more expensive than a fiber optic. When I received it, I was concerned how small it was. I heard complaints that it was hard to see out on the end of a barrel if you had issues with vision. I have pretty good eyesight but was still disappointed with how small and faint the dot was. In addition to this, it was not a simple install. It might just be the threading on my barrel, but when screwed in tight it was about 90 degrees off center. Aligning it straight down the barrel it was very loose. I applied some blue lock tight to hold it in place and hoping there is enough catch to keep it there. I'll know more after I've put it through its paces, but kinda wishing I had sprung for the XS Sights Big Dot tritium that would have gone over the stock brass bead. All said, I don't regret purchasing it considering the price, but not really happy with it at the same time.
