Release the landline shackles!
Having eventually got a decent fibre broadband line, thought high time to release myself from the shackles of having to pay landline phone costs but still wanted access to a landline for safety purposes. Consequently this provided the perfect solution linked with my old analogue DECT phones combined with a PAYG SIP service.
Box relatively easy to configure, however having reset to factory settings before starting, did have to hunt down a regional setting to get the phone base station to actually ring. Config via embedded web browser relatively intuitive (if used to doing this sort of stuff) but use a laptop rather than trying to do via iPad or phone!
Box seems robust and don’t see any long term reliability issues, only down side is you do need an Ethernet connection and additional 3-pin socket, but small price to pay for saving monthly landline charges!
