Worth the price
I can't detect distortion at the edges, which is the usual failing of inexpensive magnifying glasses, and being able to switch magnification levels is a useful feature.

For coin collectors
Perfect for storing large quantities of coins, as the drawers fit 2x2" envelopes or holders exactly with just enough room to move them about easily. It's part of a modular series with drawers of other sizes in the same frame, so you can probably get a unit with drawers that will work for rolls, slabs, proof sets, etc. I was a actually a distributor for some years and sold about a hundred units as the Deluxe-4000 Cabinet because it held about 4000 coins. They have since modified the drawers with a forward slope at the front to more easily scoop out loose "small parts" but this means envelopes lean forward and it holds about 10% less than the older flat-front drawers. Still a great alternative to cardboard boxes.

I use this scanner to make enlargements of collectible coins and even thicker items, with good results, comparable to photography but much easier to do. The top hinge is "jawed" so it will accept even a football, and the cover will still close (somewhat). Multiple small items can be shot at once, then cut apart and combined (fronts & backs), annotated, named, and filed. Use a transparency or page protector over the scanner glass to protect it from scratches; this does not seem to affect the quality of the image, even highly enlarged.
Color streaking. This happens after a while. Remove the screws holding the glass plate component, and clean the white strip on the underside. Use glass cleaner on the inside of the plate. no need to replace the screws as it opens and functions quite well without them.
