Wonderful story telling
If this collection had nothing to commend it other than Jeffty Is Five and Shatterday (the first and last stories) it would still be worth the time but it is simply wonder after wonder from start to finish. I'm more than just a bit of a homer when it comes to Harlan Ellison that being said this one of his very finest books. His work throughout the '80s consistently thought-provoking and often inspiring despite mining some of the darker corners of the imagination.

Good record
One of the Tragically Hip's more laid back records, straight up beautiful in places. Too bad about the sort of sterile Bob Rock production (if only he was as good as he is successful) but it's a very nice collection of songs. RIP Gord.

Early favorites
Paingod and I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream were the first Harlan Ellison paperbacks I bought as a kid and like Mr. Moorcock says in the introduction to this volume that combines these shorter collections it is uneven and Mr. Ellison was to continue writing better and better stories. These stories blew me away as a 17 year old bookworm (I'm 54 now). Sleeping Dogs and Pretty Maggie Moneyeyes as well as both title stories hold up remarkably well to this day. Repent! Harlequin Said The Tick-Tock Man deserved every award and reprinting it ever received. Yes he kept growing and continues to write better stuff. This stuff is brilliant regardless of that.
