Dated but timeless.
This book was published in 1979, but it is still very relevant regarding the information the author relates about buildings and the areas they are in. Each chapter covers one of the 10 counties in New Hampshire. Very readable.

Funny and surprisingly touching.
This book is what inspired Mark Twain to write 'Huckleberry Finn.' It's a funny and surprisingly touching account of a boy growing up in 19th century New England. It's about the only work by the once popular Thomas Bailey Aldrich that's still being read.

Fictional account of 1876 election strangely like today's politics.
I bought this cheap paperback in order to finish the book. I lost the hardback I had while traveling. Great read!
