These were v."upmarket" lifestyle speakers at launch ..latest version is rrp£700 and i think these (launched 2005) were over £500. Gorgeous piano black lacquered MDF.. v dense and heavy. Two identical 4 inch metalmatrix sandwich cones-2 thin layers of aluminium stuck together with a resin that damps any resonance..that,and weight, are the downside of metal cones. The upside is that they are v rigid and piston-like,and are both fed the same mid +bass signal. They have (also expensive ) gold metal dome tweeters. End result is really good midrange and treble..and bass that goes surprisingly deep but tight..but not huge amount especially if pushed. Absolutely brilliant for classical and jazz ..former is really complex in midrange and these are great for that. They are v efficient, and easily driven by small "lifestyle " stereo..i have denon ceol 45W rms approx. They are in a tiled room with rugs..14 x13 foot where normally bigger speakers would overwhelm with bass.

gorgeous cabinets. british sound.. but this is 21 l2 and upgraded tweeter is better than 21 l. (missed as the earlier version)
gorgeous cabinets have very expensive lacquer.. integral stands with spikes. less bass than the 22l or 22l2 so more suitable to smaller rooms e.g. 14x12 ft etc. No need for sub unless in a large room i'd suggest.
How can any wife who dislikes hifi not enjoy having these in the living room.
