Zebra TLP 3842 Label Thermal Printer USB

Good printer, bad documentation.

Pros: After battling to install this, the printer is functioning fine and is a big help to print shipping labels for my growing business. Overall, the printer is a good value and prints nicely @300dpi. Cons: The install CD that came with the printer wasn't very helpful, particularly for a network install, which I never got to work. Printer is now working using the USB printer port. Documentation from Zebra is pretty bad, probably because this is an older, discontinued model, but you can usually get updated drives & install utilities from most other companies like Epson or Brother for older models. So the help forums & downloads (updated drivers & network install utilities) didn't help because they were no longer available or not easy to understand. This model is not compatible with Fedex Ship Manager. Also, when printing from Paypal's Multi-ship, the printer settings override your printer dialogs so a lot of labels get wasted by printing the wrong size or orientation. Same for Shopify. So I work around this by importing label as a PDF and then changing the printer settings in the print dialog from the browser. So while a good value, this printer may be frustrating to set up and use for a non-technical person but I am satisfied.
